Spotlight on Alumni: Andrew Markowiak

Andrew Markowiak is a graduate (BA 2014) of York University’s Department of Theatre, where he trained in Playwriting, Directing and Devised Theatre. Since graduating, he has primarily worked as an actor in film and television, recently appearing in FX’s Man Seeking Woman alongside Jay Baruchel, and Discovery’s Close Encounters.

Spotlight on Mishka Thébaud

Mishka Thébaud graduated from York University in 2013 with a BFA in Acting. The graduating class of the acting conservatory took part in the Theatre Ontario Showcase, which helped Mishka to get an agent right out of school.

Spotlight on Alumni: Aris Athanasopoulos

This month, actor Aris Athanasopoulos (BFA 2007) will be playing Spinoza in New Jerusalem by David Ives at the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company. In this spotlight, Aris shares stories of his career so far and his thoughts on what made his time at York special. While he’s at it, he’s got some great advice for current students, those about to graduate and recent alums.

Alumni (BA/BFA 2012) Susannah Mackay, Eric Welch, Blue Bigwood-Mallin and Max Tepper formed the Coyote Collective in 2012, after graduating from the Creative Ensemble and, for Tepper, the Acting Program. They catch up to tell us about the making of their company, their time at York, and their next production, Labour .

Claire Armstrong graduated from the Devised Theatre program eight years ago, and has been working successfully as an actor and producer. Her recent project, After Miss Julie played to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. She has much to say about her experience at York, and the artists’ life beyond York.
