Fourth Year Devised Theatre Unmounted Nov 23 and 30
York University’s very first Fourth-Year Devised Theatre class held their first workshop performances. Having been split into four different theatre companies this year, they’ve been working since September towards their goal of a professional show by the end of the school year. Penumbra Collective and Theatre Zoetic performed on November 23rd, while Affinity Theatre and The Catalyst Project performed on November 30th in Accolade East Studios 207 and 209. These workshop performances are the material that the 4th year DT students have created so far.
Third Year Devised Theatre Unmounteds Perform Tonight!
York’s Third Year Devised Theatre (DT) students have been hard at work in the studios for weeks to create their first publicly performed unmounted pieces to be presented on Tuesday, November 20th at 7:00 p.m. Since beginning the DT program last year, the third year class has been developing, exploring and honing their creative skills in collective creation. Their assignment, entitled The Interview Projects, was to create a piece based around the performance of a pre-existing interview which would be used as the primary text of the show.
Spolight on Alumni: Emily Grindrod
Emily Grindrod (BFA 2010 — Theatre Production) focused on the management side of theatre. In her first two years, she worked on 6 of shows for Shakespeare in Action and with other companies such as Hart House Theatre, Volcano, and Toronto Operetta Theatre. In April, Emily made the move to Europe, working as a Tour Leader with Topdeck Travel.
