Students new to the Department of Theatre have plenty of opportunities to get involved! From the first day, when you’ll meet the department’s faculty and staff in our orientation sessions in the Sandra Faire and Ivan Fecan Theatre, you’ll be challenged to embrace a life in theatre and work with your peers on your own projects and productions for Theatre @ York. As part of the regularly scheduled Prime Time, you get information on deadlines, upcoming shows at York, Surprise! Surprise! theatre tickets, and the process of next steps to move from first year into the various areas of concentration in the Department of Theatre.
Production/Design students in recent years have travelled with faculty and peers to the Prague Quadrennial in the Czech Republic. In 2015, students and faculty members, as part of the festivities, were involved in planning, running the student programs and presented their work. In 2013, as part of the “Sustainable Theatre” project, a team from production/design headed to Cardiff, Wales for World Stage Design, an exhibit of international performance design, hosted by OISTAT.
Theatre Students Association (TSA)
The goal and responsibility of the Theatre Students Association is, in essence, to represent the interests of Theatre students. We try to encourage and coordinate services and activities which will enhance the University experience for students in the department, as well as the York University community as a whole.
The TSA fosters a sense of community within the department by encouraging the continuous interchange of ideas and mutual support among the department, staff and students of all departments as well as any other relevant parties. All members safeguard and uphold the rights of individual students regardless of political affiliation, gender, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, class, age, or physical ability. We want to bridge the gap between years and streams, and encourage community gatherings and activities such as, for example, TSA Nights @ the Ab and TSA Coffee Houses.
How to get involved:
Students may contact TSA co-presidents Adriana Berardocco and Adam Brewer at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Creative Arts Student Association
Representing students in all areas of the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Creative Arts Student Association (CASA) sponsors events throughout the year, including coffee houses in the Fireside Lounge every Wednesday with free coffee and themed snacks.
CASA’s new website also features a forum for discussion. The forum was set up for students to interact with their peers, and to engage in collaborative exchanges with other students.
